Summer recruiting auditions for our 2026–27 season are open! To round out our orchestras, we have openings for new students at all levels. See the full list of openings below!

Whether you want to supplement your school music experience or play in an orchestra for the first time, GTCYS’ 11 orchestras inspire 900+ musicians—from beginners to pre-professionals—to grow, connect, and shine.

Weeknight rehearsals (September through May) and several east and west metro locations make it easy to find the right fit. Plus, generous financial assistance is available.

Violin: All orchestras except Sinfonia West and Symphony
Viola: All orchestras
Cello: All orchestras except Sinfonia West and Concertino East
Bass: All orchestras

Woodwinds

Flute: Sinfonia East, Concertino East, Camerata Con Brio, and Camerata Vivace
Oboe: Sinfonia East, Sinfonia West, Concertino East, Concertino West, Camerata Con Brio, and Camerata Vivace
Clarinet: All orchestras except Philharmonia East, Philharmonia West, Concert Orchestra, and Symphony
Bassoon: All orchestras except Philharmonia East, Philharmonia West, and Concertino East

Brass

Record your audition video and submit on SnapAudition.com to be considered for placement.

Audition Timeline

The main auditions for GTCYS’ school-year orchestras are held each spring. All other auditions are reviewed on a rolling basis and placed according to instrument needs and openings. Each student can audition once per year.

2026-27 Season auditions for all students open in February and close in May each year.
Recruiting auditions open in July and December to fill orchestra openings

Orchestra Schedules

GTCYS orchestras rehearse on weeknights (Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday) at several locations in the east and west metro from September to May. Find the times and locations for specific orchestras on our school-year orchestras page.
