Launch Lessons

Leveling the playing field for students of color by providing access to private lessons.

A young student in a private lesson

Studying with a private teacher is an important way for young musicians to develop their musical skills, stay motivated, and grow as individual and orchestral players.

Launch Lessons provides 10 free, one-on-one lessons for Hispanic/Latinx and Black/African American students with financial need and a strong desire to pursue orchestral music. GTCYS matches each participant with a high-quality private instructor and covers the full cost of weekly lessons.

At the end of the program, students are expected to audition for one of GTCYS’ 11 school-year orchestras. If the student is placed into an orchestra, tuition assistance is available, and students can continue private lessons.

Applications for Summer 2026 are open! Apply by April 22.
