GTCYS provides an array of inspiring activities and performances for our students and the community.
2022 Spring Concerts
From Orchestra Hall to Humboldt High School, we look forward to inspiring performances by all 10 orchestras this spring as we continue celebrating GTCYS’ 50th Anniversary. Thanks to our generous community of donors, many performances are free and livestreamed, so audiences near and far can join us in person or online.
On June 14, Symphony will embark on a much-anticipated concert tour to Southern Italy and Sicily, with stops in Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast, Rome, Taormina, and Palermo. Joined by 2021 and 2020 Symphony graduates, 96 musicians will travel across Southern Italy with unparalleled performance opportunities at stunning concert venues. Cultural experiences, including visits to Pompeii, the Roman Forum, and the Sistine Chapel, will deepen students’ global perspective. Through these experiences, students will be inspired to new heights as musicians, while developing a broader global perspective and creating lifelong friendships.
Enjoy Symphony’s tour program in this exciting send-off concert! Shostakovich’s exhilarating Symphony No. 5 serves as the centerpiece to the tour and will be performed in its entirety. GTCYS oboists Kalina Lee and Izaiah Cheeran dazzle with Vivaldi’s Concerto for 2 Oboes. Wagner’s Overture to Rienzi and Copland’s Buckaroo Holiday, from Rodeo round out the program.
As of now, masks will be required for audience members while in the concert hall and encouraged while in the lobby. COVID vaccines or a negative test are strongly encouraged for audience members but are not required for this concert.
All GTCYS concerts are presented in fully accessible spaces. Large print programs are available for all concerts, and listening devices are available at Orchestra Hall and Ted Mann Concert Hall. If you have a special request, please contact Program Director Miranda Bryanat firstname.lastname@example.org ten days prior to a concert and we will do our best to make accommodations.
