Planned Giving

Fulfilling dreams for the future

A meaningful way for you to support the future of GTCYS and our young musicians is to include GTCYS in your will, living trust, or as a beneficiary of a retirement plan or life insurance policy.

In addition to leaving a transformational legacy, bequests have several benefits, including tax savings. Bequests can be modified at any time during your life should circumstances change and may be directed for general or restricted use (such as for need-based scholarships or endowment funding).

Types of Bequests

There are several ways you can include GTCYS in your estate plans. Provided below is some general bequest language to serve as a reference for you and your attorney.

Specific Bequest: A gift for a specific dollar amount or asset.

I hereby give, devise and bequeath ________ and no/100 dollars ($_____) to the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, a nonprofit organization located at 408 St. Peter Street, Suite 300, St. Paul, MN 55102, Federal Tax ID #41-6038525, for the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies’ general use and purpose.

Percentage Bequest: A specific percentage of your overall estate.

I hereby give, devise and bequeath _____ percent (___%) of my total estate, determined as of the date of my death, to the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, a nonprofit organization located at 408 St. Peter Street, Suite 300, St. Paul, MN 55102, Federal Tax ID #41-6038525, for the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies’ general use and purpose.

Residual Bequest: A bequest made from the balance of an estate after other specific bequests have been fulfilled.

I hereby give, devise and bequeath to the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, a nonprofit organization located at 408 St. Peter Street, Suite 300, St. Paul, MN 55102, Federal Tax ID #41-6038525, [ALL / PERCENTAGE%] of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate for the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies’ general use and purpose.

Contingent Bequest: A bequest made only if the primary bequest cannot be met. For example, if the primary beneficiary is not alive at the time of your death.

If [PRIMARY BENEFICIARY] does not survive me, then I hereby give, devise and bequeath to the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, a nonprofit organization located at 408 St. Peter Street, Suite 300, St. Paul, MN 55102, Federal Tax ID #41-6038525, [$AMOUNT / PERCENTAGE% of estate OR the rest, residue, and remainder of estate] for the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies’ general use and purpose.

Restricted Bequests

If you are interested in making a bequest to GTCYS for a specific purpose (for example, to establish a scholarship fund), please let us know. We would be happy to work with you and your attorney to discuss options and help craft language to ensure we’re able to honor your gift intent to the best of our ability.
