New Orchestra Conductor Named
Following an extensive public search, we are excited to announce that Zane Kaiser will join GTCYS’ artistic staff as the conductor for our second Camerata orchestra next fall. Zane is passionate about engaging with students and families from all backgrounds and experience levels and he is passionate about creating joy in his rehearsals and introducing new music to students’ learning.
Zane is renowned for his leadership as director of orchestras and bands at Justice Page Middle School (Minneapolis) where he has built the largest music program in the Minneapolis Public Schools district. He received a B.M. in Instrumental Music Education from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and an M.M. in Music Education from the Longy School of Music of Bard. Zane is also a bassoon teacher and performer.
Zane’s positive energy, rehearsal approach, and ability to connect with students are inspiring, and he is excited to join GTCYS’ team. He shared, “I am beyond thrilled to be working with both the engaging students of Camerata and GTCYS as a whole! I am already looking forward to exploring music next season with this diverse group of students while continually growing my own skills as a musician and educator.”
Adding a second Camerata orchestra this fall will create opportunities for more intermediate-level musicians and complement the current Camerata led by conductor Diane Hallberg. We’re excited to expand and serve new students in this way. Remember that auditions are due Tuesday, May 22!
Our staff is eager to welcome Zane this summer as he dives into season planning and preparations for students this fall. Welcome to the GTCYS family, Zane!
