Symphony Chamber Ensemble Interest Form
We’re looking for chamber ensembles to represent GTCYS through performances both within our organization and throughout the community. There is no cost to participate, and accepted ensembles will receive complimentary professional coaching and performance opportunities.
Ensembles
We are seeking to support the following standard chamber ensembles:
- String Quartet: 2 violins, viola, cello
- Woodwind Quintet: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn
- Brass Quintet: 2 trumpets, horn, trombone, tuba
What GTCYS Provides
Chamber ensembles accepted into the program receive:
- Complimentary professional coaching
- Assistance with repertoire selection
- Performance opportunities throughout the season
We encourage ensembles to prepare a variety of repertoire, including standard chamber literature as well as accessible selections such as pop and film music that are well suited for community performances.
Expectations
To participate, your ensemble should:
- Rehearse independently 4–6 times per semester outside of GTCYS
- Commit to performing at 1–2 community events during the season
- Submit a 2–3 minute video by October 30 demonstrating the ensemble’s readiness for public performances
Getting Started
- Complete the interest form below by Friday, August 7
- We’ll share your information with other Symphony members who express interest so that you can reach out to others and form a chamber ensemble. Note: Because ensemble formation depends on student interest and instrumentation, we cannot guarantee that every interested musician will be part of an ensemble.
- Once your ensemble has formed, schedule your rehearsals outside of GTCYS. We encourage ensembles to begin rehearsing as soon as possible.
- Have one member of your group email Dan Mollick at dan@gtcys.org with your ensemble name (if applicable), instrumentation, and member names.
- Submit your video by Friday, October 30.
- If your ensemble is accepted, we’ll contact you with coaching details and upcoming performance opportunities.
