Megan Holroyd (right) played trombone in GTCYS from 6th–12th grade, culminating in a transformative senior-year tour to Fiji, New Zealand, and Australia in 1992—where Symphony will return in 2026!

Megan is a seasoned music educator, having taught for 18 years at Stillwater Area Public Schools. This year, Megan had the honor of receiving the Partnership Plan Award for teaching in her district. Congratulations!

She’s also worked in marketing at the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and served on the board of directors at GTCYS. She keeps up her trombone chops by playing in the Red Rock Swing band!

“When I started my music education major at St. Olaf College, I remember I knew EVERY piece of music on the syllabus for my first music history class, because I had performed the pieces in GTCYS!” Megan shared.

“I loved playing in the great halls. I learned an immense amount from all the conductors, and I made lifelong friends.

“The tour to Fiji Islands, New Zealand, and Australia in 1992 gave me a global perspective and memories that I still appreciate and talk about today.”
