A youth orchestra alum poses with his oboe

Alum Jacob Slattery played oboe in GTCYS for 3 years, starting in Concertino and ending in Symphony.

Jacob serves as the Director of Programs for the Dudamel Foundation, which provides world-class opportunities and resources for young people across the globe to learn and perform music at the highest level.

When he’s not playing oboe with different orchestras around the New York metro, he also operates his own music company, the Orpheus Bureau, which seeks to promote and advance American music and develop new audiences.

“I feel grateful to build musical and educational opportunities for the next generations,” Jacob shares.

One of his most memorable GTCYS highlights was playing Elgar’s Enigma Variations with Symphony his senior year!
