Anna Erickson, ’15

By Jacob West, Development Coordinator

A youth orchestra alum poses for a photoAnna Erickson played violin in GTCYS for five years, moving from Concert Orchestra to Philharmonic and ending with three years in Symphony.

She currently serves as a pastor in Holland, Michigan, preaching and working with college students. When she’s not preaching or coaching basketball, she plays fiddle in a folk band called Michigan-IO and violin in her church.

Some of Anna’s GTCYS highlights include playing Dvořák’s New World Symphony or Shostakovich 5. Looking back on her years in GTCYS, she shares:

“My musical experiences during GTCYS are genuinely a highlight of my life. I especially value the opportunity I had as a teenager to play such masterwork pieces. I did not pursue music professionally, and I look back at GTCYS with deep gratitude for the beautiful moments I was able to share in.”
