You’re Invited to Join Student Leadership Team
We’re excited to invite you to be part of GTCYS Student Leadership Team! SLT gives students a chance to share ideas, collaborate with others, and develop leadership skills while helping shape the GTCYS experience. The team includes representatives from all 11 GTCYS orchestras.
As a member of GTCYS Student Leadership Team you will:
- Meet students from across all GTCYS orchestras and build new friendships
- Develop leadership skills through team meetings, orchestra activities, and retreats
- Plan and lead student-driven projects and initiatives
- Lead announcements in your orchestra rehearsal
- Help shape the GTCYS experience by sharing ideas and providing feedback
- Participate in volunteer and service opportunities throughout the year
What is involved?
SLT members meet twice per month on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Most meetings will be virtual, with four in-person sessions at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis.
Please take a close look at the meeting schedule before signing up. We want every SLT member to be able to participate fully, so please do not sign up if you already know that your schedule will prevent you from attending regularly. Members may miss up to one meeting per semester.
As a member, we ask that you bring an open mind and collaborative spirit: share your ideas, listen to and support others, be your authentic self, and represent both the leadership team and your GTCYS orchestra in a positive way.
How do I join?
We ask that you sign up by Friday, September 25:
- Review the meeting schedule and make sure you can commit to attending all meetings, except for one absence per semester.
- Use this link to register, making sure to select your orchestra. If your orchestra is full, you’ll see a button to join the waiting list, and we’ll reach out if a spot opens.
