SLT: Four Action Items for Week of October 12

Dear Student Leadership Team,

It was great seeing you all last night! We started our meeting with a social activity and then Jacob West, GTCYS Development Manager, shared how to sign up to speak at concerts this year. We also enjoyed pizza and made suggestion boxes. Thanks for helping clean up and put the tables back!

Four Action Items for the Week of October 12

  1. Deliver your suggestion box. Bring it to your rehearsal and ask your RA where to set it up and store it after rehearsal. Place suggestion cards next to the box; cards can be stored inside the box after rehearsal.
  2. Make the announcement below. Check with your RA about when to do it. Speak loudly, clearly, and slowly so everyone can hear you.
  3. Check the suggestion box. Use this link to record each submission. Start a new form for each submission.
  4. Share your GTCYS experience. Use this link throughout the year to share photos, a story, quote, social media idea, or anything else about your GTCYS experience.

Announcement for the Week of October 12

Before you start:

  • Meet as a team before rehearsal or during break to make a plan.
  • Have the whole team come to the front for announcements.
  • You may use your phone to read the announcement, but return it to the phone holder afterward.
  • Take turns reading, or have one person read the whole announcement.

Announcement:

  • Hi everyone! My name is ___ and I’m a member of Student Leadership Team. (Everyone on the team introduces themselves and their instrument)
  • We’re representatives of our orchestra. We’ll share announcements, lead social activities, and also gather your feedback to share with GTCYS.
  • We have a suggestion box in our orchestra. (Point to it!) You can use it to share feedback, suggest music, or give a shout-out.
  • There are three ways to share:
    1. Write it on a comment card and put it in the box
    2. Scan the QR code on the box.
    3. Talk to one of us!
  • Now we’re going to do our first social activity: Turn and Talk. Turn to someone sitting next to you and share your name, your favorite season, and your favorite activity to do during that season. I’ll clap three times when time is up. Ready? Go!
  • (Give everyone 30-45 seconds to talk)
  • (Clap 3 times to get everyone’s attention)
  • Thanks for participating! Have a great rest of rehearsal!

Next Meeting

Our next meeting is Wednesday, October 28, 6:30-7:30pm, over Zoom.

Sincerely,
Dan
