SLT: Action items for Week of November 2

Thanks for a great meeting this week! We started by reviewing our meeting norms and sharing celebrations with one another. Then we heard updates from each orchestra and learned about student-led projects for this season.

Before our next meeting, I’ll put together teams for our ongoing responsibilities and special projects and share them with you.

Four Action Items for the Week of October 12

1. Make the announcement below. You’ll make this before your RA does their announcements. Speak loudly, clearly, and slowly so everyone can hear you.
2. Check the suggestion box. Use this link to record each submission. Start a new form for each submission.
3. Share your GTCYS experience. Use this link throughout the year to share photos, a story, quote, social media idea, or anything else about your GTCYS experience.

Announcement for the Week of October 12

Before you start:

• Meet as a team before rehearsal or during break to make your plan.
• Make sure the whole team comes to the front for announcements.
• Print this or use your phone to read the announcement, but return it to the phone holder afterward.
• Take turns reading, or have one person read the whole announcement.
• Optional: You are welcome to change up the Get-to-know-you prompt that fits best with your orchestra. Check out this list for ideas!

Announcement:

• Hi again everyone! My name is ___ and I’m a member of GTCYS Student Leadership Team.
• (Everyone on the team introduces themselves)
• We want to remind you that we have a suggestion box in our orchestra. (Point to it!) You can use it to share feedback, suggest music, or give a shout-out.
• There are three ways to share:
  1. Write it on a comment card and put it in the box
  2. Scan the QR code on the box.
  3. Talk to one of us!
• Do you have friends who are interested in GTCYS? Remind them that we have auditions for new students to join in second semester. The deadline to audition is December 1.
• Tonight we are going to do a Mini-Debate. Turn to someone sitting next to you, introduce yourself, and debate the statement: “Pineapple belongs on pizza.” It’s ok – you can agree to disagree! I’ll clap three times when time is up. Ready? Set… Go!
• (Give everyone 30-45 seconds to talk)
