Letter from Tamara (9/24)

Thanks to all for their hard work during rehearsal. I was particularly impressed with the level of preparation of the woodwind section. Keep up the good work!

We are approaching seating auditions, so this is a good time to really dig into your fall festival pieces. We will perform Vals Bohemienne and Overture to Coriolanus (beginning to letter D, then a big cut to around measure 160; definite cut TBD next week).

It is really important that every student listens to the playlist regularly and spends 10-15 minutes on their music daily. Moving forward, personal preparation is the only way we can make progress and polish these pieces.

Please focus on the following sections:

Val’s Bohemienne- both of the Poco Meno Mosso sections

Coriolanus- B through D

Please review these fingerings for violins and cellos. Everyone must transfer this into their parts before next rehearsal.

Violin 1 Fingerings – Dvorak

Violin 1 Fingerings – Coleridge-Taylor

Violin 2 Fingerings – Coleridge-Taylor

Cello Fingerings – Coleridge-Taylor

Have a great week!
