Letter from Tamara (9/10)
Hello Concertino East, and welcome to the 2026-27 season. It was great getting to meet you all at our first rehearsal.
We will be tackling some challenging music this year, so please begin to set aside those 10 minutes for working on your GTCYS music each practice day. For this week, I want everyone to listen intentionally to their Fall Festival performance pieces at least 4 times before the next rehearsal. This means listening to the recordings with your music in hand, following along so that you can hear and notice how your part fits into the work as a whole.
As you listen to the pieces, notice spots that seem challenging to you, bracket them, and work on those specific spots independently before next week’s rehearsal. For the Coriolan by Beethoven, we will make a fairly large cut but go ahead and listen to the entire piece for now. If you don’t have that part in your folder, you will receive it next week in rehearsal (please listen to it anyways).
First violins- attached you will find fingering for the Coleridge-Taylor Waltz, and Dvorak’s Slavonic Dance No.10
Happy Practicing!
