Letter from Ms. Mary (9/21)

Hey Philharmonia West!

Super fun retreat and rehearsal this week. Let’s continue the momentum of individual practice and focused rehearsals.

This week, we had mentors join our rehearsal. How nice to have members of Philharmonic work and pay with us.  They will be joining us throughout the year.

This week we focused on Belvedere Suite and Raspberry Ramble.  We spent quite a bit of time on one of the biggest orchestral skills: watching.  When we play in an orchestra, we have to watch and listen differently than when we are playing our instrument alone. We will continue to build on these skills each week.

Before next Monday, I would like you to pay through the following passages:

  • Prelude from Belvedere Suite: measures 1-16
  • Raspberry Ramble: Letter F-G and Letter I to the end

Try to play each of these passages 4 times before next Monday. You do not need to pay them fast!

Fill in the blank: I will not rush. Rushing makes me ______.  Send those replies to mary@gtcys.org.

Have a great week.  Can’t wait for next Monday.  (Next Monday is our first treat night of the year!)

Work hard, play hard.
