Letter from Mrs. Hebert (9/28)

Sinfonia West,

Thank you for another GREAT week! We are making so much progress!

Brass and woodwind players- please focus on anything that your sectional coach worked on.

Strings– please practice each section we worked on SLOWLY. Ensure that you know your notes and rhythms before picking up the tempo. Add in the glissando sections in Waltz of the Wicked after you know the notes you are sliding to.

Here are the pieces we are focusing on for your GTCYS 10:

Waltz of the Wicked: Work on small sections of this piece. There are a LOT of accidentals so double check your notes. Even though we are learning it slow, you can add in the accents right away! Listen to the recording as well.

Momentum: It is time to pick up the tempo! Our goal is 150: Quarter note. This week I want EVERYONE to practice with a metronome. Slowly work your way up to 150. Our goal is ACCURACY and CLARITY. Don’t increase your tempo until you know you can play it at a slower tempo.  Play close attention to your dynamics and articulation.

Slavonic Legend: Please work on the details this week! Now is the time to add in articulation, slurs, dynamics, etc.
