Letter from Mrs. Hebert (9/21)
Sinfonia West,
Wow! I am so impressed on our progress in just 2 short weeks! Keep it up!
A reminder: make sure you practice your GTCYS music for 10 minutes a day (we call this our GTCYS 10).
Since I only see you all one time a week, it is important for everyone to play their part and come prepared!
Woodwinds- I hope you learned a lot from your sectional coaches! Your main practice goals will be to incorporate what they taught you into your music.
Here are some other areas to focus on:
Momentum: Pay close attention to the 8th rests, dynamics, and staccatos this week! As you get more comfortable with your music, you can start to increase the tempo. Our goal is 150: quarter note.
Aboriginal Rituals: Take this one in small sections! Master those before moving on. Strings: focus on the 16th notes, shifting, and harmonics. Cellos- we added in a few fingerings where you should be shifting. If you didn’t get it at rehearsal, come find me next week! You can also ask your private teacher for a good fingering if you are unsure what to do.
Everyone: focus on the middle section! I am hoping we can spend more rehearsal time on that next week.
Slavonic Legend: Work on the second half at the key change. Winds/brass: feel free to write in fingerings or sharps next to the note to help you.
Waltz of the Wicked: we just handed this one out! Click on the title to listen to it and give it a try this week! We will work on it as a group next week.
For those that have read this far- great job! Click on this form to answer the question for this week!
