Hello Camerata Vivace!

Thank you for a wonderful rehearsal of sectionals! I heard positive feedback from our woodwind, brass, and percussion coaches, and, I had a blast working with our strings! Looking ahead: seating auditions!

Your GTCYS 10 is going to be focused around preparing for seating auditions. If you do not have a seating audition because you are the only person on your instrument in our ensemble (trombone, percussion), still look at the measures outlined for your peers as they will be places to work on!

GTCYS 10:

Strings: Your seating auditions will be on 10/22, and your excerpts will be available at least two weeks before that. You should be looking at Norwegian Dance No. 2, Celebrazione Sinfonia!, and New England Holiday in preparation for these in particular.

Woodwind/Brass: Your seating auditions are on 10/8.

The woodwind and brass seating audition excerpts are:

Flute:

Norwegian Dance No. 2, 27 – 51

Celebrazione Sinfonia! 83 – 101

Oboe:

Norwegian Dance No. 2, 27 – 51

Celebrazione Sinfonia! 41 – 51

Clarinet:

Norwegian Dance No. 2, 35 – 51

Celebrazione Sinfonia! 91 – downbeat of 101

Bassoon:

Norwegian Dance No. 2, 27 – 51

Celebrazione Sinfonia! 103 – 111

Trumpet:

Celebrazione Sinfonia! 62 – 76, with the marked tempo change ritardando

Celebrazione Sinfonia! 95 – 1-1

Horn:

Norwegian Dance No. 2 39 – 51

Norwegian Dance No. 3 25 – 32

Tuba:

Norwegian Dance No. 3 25 – 32

Celebrazione Sinfonia! 130 – Downbeat of 136

Chamber Music:

This year our chamber music program will be shifting a little bit! Chamber music will be student-led from within each orchestra, and GTCYS will work to help provide repertoire and coaching from professionals periodically throughout the season. Interested in making your own music and impact? Signups will be soon!

Next week we are back to a “normal” rehearsal and will work on creating a great overall ensemble sound on our pieces. See you soon!

Best wishes,

Kaiser
