Letter from Kaiser (10/2)

Thank you for a fun rehearsal of review and introductions! Tonight we played through some Polar Express, Moods Of Mahler (just to sight-read), Snow Chase, and Angel City. Looking ahead, rehearsals are going to be even more focused on cleaning up passages, transitions, and overall sound and blend. We are past the point of notes and rhythms and should be well on the path to making musical moments!

GTCYS 10:
Winds and Brass: Seating Auditions! Your GTCYS 10 is to prepare for your auditions.
Strings: I’d love for you to focus this week on Celebrazione Sinfonia and the Norwegian Dances. Specifically: intonation and dynamics! Spend time this week not only practicing the physical instrument, but dedicate time to listen to examples from previous emails, use your pencil to write reminders, and use a tuner for isolated notes and moments!
Seating Auditions Information and Sectionals:
Next week are split sectionals for strings, and a large-group sectional for winds, brass, and percussion. This is because it will be woodwind and brass seating auditions! Please come prepared with your excerpts and ready to make beautiful music!
