Letter from Jack (9/28)

Dear Concert Orchestra,

I had some great conversations with your sectional coaches last night- they really enjoyed working with you! If you spent time with a sectional coach last night, be sure to review your notes (or write some down if you didn’t) so that we can be in peak form next week.

Two small but important reminders

1. The schedule shared below might serve as an outline for your practice each week. The “focus measures” listed should be your main target for practice this week. If everyone looks at their music ahead of time and does some intentional practice (and thoughtful listening!), rehearsals will feel much better.
2. Please refrain from having side conversations or using your phone during rehearsal- let’s maintain a focused, respectful environment.

6:45-7:30: Mozart, measure 97 to the end

7:30-7:45: Arslanian: Scherzo Fantasy Beginning to rehearsal A

• (all, please listen to this recording to get a sense for counting and entrances. This is tricky stuff!)
•    Strings, 2 before A features some tricky fingerboard stuff. Please choreograph this in advance and come to rehearsal with a thoughtful fingering plan.

7:55-8:25: Arslanian, Rehearsal L to the end

8:25-8:45: Run through of Mozart and Arslanian
