Letter from Jack (10/19)

Dear Concert Orchestra,

Thank you for your persistence this week! And a congratulations to all students who completed seating auditions this week or last. I’m very proud of each and every one of you for your willingness to put yourself out there and do something challenging.

Strings, I will send an updated seating chart out before our next rehearsal. Please do not see your seat placement as an indication of your worth as a musician or as a person. We need leaders in every row of this orchestra- and I’m counting on each and every one of you to be a lead and play with confidence and passion.

For Fall festival, we will share the following program:

Arslanian: Scherzo Fantasy

Bizet: Farandole

We will focus on these two pieces for the next two weeks- please focus your practice in this way as well.

SCHEDULE FOR NEXT WEEK

6:45-7:15: STRINGS ALONE- working on Arslanian, Rehearsal M to P.

7:15-8:25 (with break): FULL ORCHESTRA, Arslanian

8:25-8:45: Farandole

WW/Brass/Percussion players are welcome to be at rehearsal as early as you wish. Please quietly and respectfully observe the string sectional if you choose to be in the rehearsal space from 6:45-7:15. Otherwise, please plan to arrive a little before 7:15 so you can quietly set up and be ready to go right on time.

Looking forward to making music with you soon!

Jack.
