Letter from Diane (2/22)

Hello Camerata Con Brio,

Since we have our retreat in a few days, I will keep my message brief.

It was great to work in sectionals this week.  Brass, Woodwinds, and Percussion, your coaches each mentioned to me how much they enjoyed working with you. Thank you for putting your attention and effort towards a productive rehearsal!

Strings, the chance to focus our attention on bowings, phrasing and dynamics was super helpful tonight.  You were asking great questions and making solid progress. Well done!

On Sunday we will have a chance to put all of our work together at the Fall Retreat. I look forward to this event each year; it is a great chance for us to have some fun together, grow closer as an ensemble and engage in some focused rehearsal.  A total win!

Make sure to bring a music stand, your instrument and music, and a NUT-FREE LUNCH to the retreat. Percussion, please bring a snare drum, a snare stand and your sticks and mallets. Also, a reminder to dress for the weather.  We will be outside for a lot of our team building time.

We now have a playlist on our Members web page!  I encourage you to use your GTCYS 10 to listen to the recording of the Grieg on the playlist. Notice how each section is balanced, so you can hear the tonal color of the instrument leading each part of the melody. Let’s work towards that kind of mature sound!

See you on Sunday at Camp St. Croix!  Until then, always live your life Con Brio!
