Letter from Diane (11/3)
Hello Camerata Con Brio,
One more rehearsal left until our Fall Festival Performance! We continued to make progress on transitions this week and focused on our cut-offs/releases as well. A good goal for this week would be for you to become so confident on your part that you could look up at the conductor at any time without getting lost or making a mistake. The more you get your eyes out of your part, the more musically engaged and engaging you will be!
With that in mind, here is your GTCYS 10:
Stage a run-through of “The Iliad” and “Waltz” playing with expression, accuracy and good tempos. Then ask yourself what still needs work and go back to practice that section specifically.
Spend some time learning your part to “Christmas at the Movies” We only have 4 rehearsals after Fall Festival to get this piece performance ready, so it is important to put some individual practice in now. Brass and percussion, please focus on the opening section. It may help for you to hear your part in context, so please listen here.
Saturday is our night out at the orchestra! Those who signed up received a message from GTCYS with your tickets and more information. If you signed up and are not able to come, please let the GTCYS office know–there is a waiting list for this popular event!
Shout out of the week goes to our amazing bass section! Brock, Shaoyi and Stella, you add depth and soul to our sound. Thanks for your great work!
Have a great week, keep practicing, and always live your life CON BRIO!
