Harmony LNFI Week 4 – Tips for Practicing at Home
Dear Harmony L’Etoile du Nord Families,
We had another fun week of Harmony classes! Returning students are working on Ode to Joy, French Folk Song, and Allegro. Roots students played violin and cello this week!
Our value of the week was Effort: putting in the work to learn new things in class and at home. It’s about trying your best, even when you make mistakes.
Please help your students establish a habit of playing their instrument at home! Returning Harmony students are not required to bring their instrument home, but if they do, they should play for at least a few minutes every day.
You can encourage your student to play their D Major scale, Hot Cross Buns, and Cold Cross Buns. Ask your students what other scales they can play!
They can also listen to / play along with our songs on the Harmony YouTube Page!
If you want to ask your Roots student about Harmony, here are some things they can tell you about:
- Parts of the violin and cello (ask what the hair on their bow is made of)
- The music alphabet
- How to hold a bow – ask them to show you a “bow hold” on a pen or pencil!
For all students, listening to any music helps develop their musical ear and sense of rhythm! We always love to hear about whatever music students listen to at home.
If you ever have questions about helping your student play at home, or if you have questions or concerns about their instrument, please text, call, or email me!
Thanks,
Emily
