Harmony LNFI Week 2 – Instrument Information and Fall Festival Tickets
Dear Harmony L’Etoile du Nord Families,
We are at the end of our first full week of Harmony! This week, we had small group classes on Monday and Friday and met in big groups on Wednesday. It was so fun to get back on our instruments and play music together!
Harmony Roots started exploring the violin this week, and will have a chance to look at a cello soon!
Taking Instruments Home
All returning students can now bring instruments home. Here are a few reminders about instrument care:
- Please encourage your student to play their instrument at home! If they bring an instrument home, students should expect to play it for at least a few minutes every day.
- Never leave instruments in the car for any amount of time.
- Instruments must be stored in their cases in a temperature-controlled part of your home when they are not being played.
- Only students and their guardians may handle Harmony instruments.
- Cellos are not allowed on school busses.
- Please do not attempt to fix an instrument at home, including resetting a fallen bridge. Please let me know if you notice an issue with your student’s instrument so we can address it at school.
- Please make sure to bring instruments to school for class – we don’t always have spares available to use when instruments are forgotten at home! If a student forgets their instrument at home two times, they will be asked not to take it home for two weeks.
Tickets to GTCYS Fall Festival
The Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies Fall Festival is coming up in a few weeks! Harmony does not perform at Fall Festival, but you can get complimentary tickets to come see a few of the orchestras perform and get an idea of what it might be like to perform at Orchestra Hall in the Spring! There are three current Harmony LNFI students in GTCYS Philharmonia East, which will perform in Concert 2 on Saturday, November 13 at 2:30pm.
- Use the code HarmonyTix to reserve up to two free tickets to any Fall Festival performance.
- Use the code ReducedTix5 to reserve up to four additional tickets for $5 each.
- The discount codes work for any tickets in price level 3 or 4.
- If you have trouble figuring out booking on the website, I would recommend calling to book through Orchestra Hall’s box office: 612.371.5656
- Find more information about GTCYS Fall Festival tickets here, or go directly to the website to book tickets!
As always, please let me know if you have any questions. We will see you on Monday and Wednesday next week (there is no school or Harmony on Friday, October 30th).
Thanks,
Emily
