2019 Summer Orchestra registration open

Rehearsals: Tuesdays, May 28 – July 9, 7:00 – 8:45pm at the University of Minnesota School of Music

Concert: Tuesday, July 16 at Como Lakeside Pavilion, St. Paul

Whether you’re a first-time orchestra musician or an advanced player, there’s a place for you in one of GTCYS’ three summer orchestras! The Summer Philharmonic and Summer Symphony inspire younger and more advanced string, woodwind, brass, and percussion students, and the Summer Chamber Symphony offers higher level string students an opportunity to excel in a more intimate orchestra. Register online by May 13 (early bird discount before April 26!)

  • Open to 3rd – 12th graders who play an orchestral instrument and can read music – no audition!
  • Work with GTCYS conductors Diane HallbergKent Musser, and Gary Wolfman
  • Rehearse in beautiful facilities, including Ted Mann Concert Hall
  • Perform at scenic Como Park
  • Up to two absences allowed
  • Need-based tuition scholarships available

Audition for GTCYS!

GTCYS auditions are opportunities for students to play their instruments so we can get to know them and match them with one of our ten school-year orchestras for the 2023-24 season. To audition for GTCYS, students register online, record a video, and submit an audition online.
