These lessons will be scheduled between September 1, 2025 and August 31, 2026. Orchestra participation: I understand that membership in good standing in one of GTCYS' 11 orchestras is a requirement for eligibility in lessons. Attendance: I understand that attending lessons is very important to my musical education, and that participating in lessons is part of my commitment to playing in orchestra. I will do my best to show up to lessons ready to learn! Materials: I will come prepared to lessons with my instrument, music, pencil, and my shoulder rest or rock stop (as needed). At-Home Practice: I will work with my teacher and my family to find time during the week to practice at home. Students in GTCYS’ lessons programs are required to practice at least 5 days/week, at least 20 minutes/day, including 10 minutes/day dedicated to GTCYS orchestra music. Lesson teachers may adjust this expectation based on a student's particular circumstances, and may have higher expectations for more advanced students. Lack of regular practice may result in dismissal from the program.
