Harmony Visit to Philharmonia East

Mark your calendar – returning Harmony students are invited to visit a Philharmonia East rehearsal (with pizza provided!) on Tuesday, April 21!

Here are the details:

When: Tuesday, April 21, from 5:30 – 7:15 pm.
Where: House of Hope Presbyterian Church (797 Summit Ave, St Paul)
Who should attend: all Harmony students in at least their second year (and their parents or guardians) are invited. 5th graders and any other students who are hoping to play in Philharmonia East next school year are highly encouraged to attend.
What to expect: This event will include a meeting about GTCYS orchestra rehearsals and private lessons, a brief tour of the building, and a chance to observe part of an orchestra rehearsal!

Once they have learned the basics of playing violin or cello, we hope Harmony students will join a GTCYS after-school orchestra to continue their musical education. The first orchestra is called "Philharmonia East," and it rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00pm at House of Hope Presbyterian Church on Summit Ave. in St. Paul. Students who are ready to play in Philharmonia East will apply for need-based tuition assistance and receive a scholarship to take private violin or cello lessons, which mostly take place on Tuesdays before orchestra rehearsal. At the meeting on April 21, we will talk about orchestra, lessons, auditions, and all the information you need to know before registering for orchestra.
