Susie Kuniyoshi
Susie Kuniyoshi teaches all levels, specializing in young beginners, Suzuki method, and piccolo. Her students have played in MYS & GTCYS, and have won/placed in competitions sponsored by UMFA, Thursday Musical, Schubert Club, Minnesota Varsity, and the National Flute Association. Ms. Kuniyoshi is a certified Suzuki Instructor, and teaches both Suzuki, Traditional, and Blended methods. She received her B.M. degree from Ithaca College and M.M. degree from the New England Conservatory of Music. Ms. Kuniyoshi served as Acting Principal Piccoloist for the Minnesota Orchestra under Edo DeWaart, and has performed locally with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra, and touring shows/ballets. She has played with the Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra, Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra, and was a 1990 soloist in the Opening Recital of the National Flute Association’s Minneapolis convention. Ms. Kuniyoshi has taught at the University of WI-Superior, College of St. Scholastica, and University of MN-Duluth/Prep Division, and has presented piccolo master classes at Oberlin Conservatory and the University of MN. She taught in the Boston area and upstate New York public schools, and has served as a clinician/adjudicator in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Hawaii. She currently teaches at St. Joseph’s School of Music, St. Paul Academy, and maintains a private studio.
