Steven Leung
I have been teaching privately in the Twin Cities area in my home studio for the past 22 years. I was also the former director of Orchestra at Benilde St. Margaret's School in St. Louis Park and also taught at MacPhail Center for Music in downtown Minneapolis, where I was a Suzuki violin instructor and conductor of the Camerata Orchestra. My education includes a Master of Music in Violin Performance from Rice University and a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Oberlin College Conservatory and completed my Suzuki pedagogy studies at the University of Minnesota with Mark Bjork. World-class teachers include Almita and Roland Vamos, Kathleen Winkler, Jorja Fleezanis, and Roger Frisch.
My extensive performing experience with professional ensembles includes performances with Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, San Antonio Symphony, and the New World Symphony. I have had the privilege to participate in numerous summer music festivals around the United States and the Far East including the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, National Repertory Orchestra, National Orchestral Institute, and Pacific Music Festival.
I have the unique advantage of violin instruction from some of the top teacher artists in the world and also the pedagogy training necessary to guide students to the highest level of performance. I feel a deep obligation to teach the next generation of musicians, continuing the line of artistry that was bestowed upon me.
