Maisie Block
Maisie grew up in Wayzata, MN, and began studying the violin at the age of four. She took violin lessons at the MacPhail Center for Music, and participated in the Greater Twin Cities’ Youth Symphonies. Maisie received her Bachelor’s Degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and her Master’s Degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Since graduation, Maisie has pursued a career in both music performance and education. She is currently a regular substitute violinist with the Minnesota Opera, and an occasional substitute with the Minnesota Orchestra. Maisie has also performed in Broadway shows at the Guthrie Theater and the Orpheum Theater. She has been teaching private violin lessons since 2006, and enjoys sharing her love for music with all of her students.
Maisie really enjoys performing popular music, too. She has played in orchestras that have accompanied Jewel, Idina Menzel, Evanescence, Johnny Mathis, Hugh Jackman, Andrea Bocelli, and the Trans Siberian Orchestra. When Maisie is not playing violin, she loves horseback riding, relaxing on Lake Minnetonka, and spending time with her husband, their two sons, dog and cat.
