Orchestrating Opportunities Benefit

Join us for the event of the season! All are invited to be part of GTCYS’ annual Orchestrating Opportunities benefit celebrating 50 years of music and community. Thanks to our generous sponsors, admission is waived so all can attend! Register by April 4.

As our largest fundraising event of the year, guests can support GTCYS’ music education activities by bidding on fantastic prizes, live auction items, and a fund-a-need auction.

Students and honorary guest Gretchen Carlson, GTCYS alumna acclaimed journalist, and female empowerment advocate, will take the stage for a joyous program filled with inspiring music, uplifting stories, and enticing auctions.

AUCTIONS AND ACTIVITIES

Live Auction (during the program)

Thanks to our friends at France 44 and Small Lot Wine & Spirits, you can tour your way through Italy, sip by sip with this delicious collection of Italian and Sicilian wines in honor of Symphony’s June tour to Italy. The lucky winner will get to enjoy winning Italian wines in the comfort of your own home. To share or not to share is the question!

Personal chef, cookbook author, and founder of Dine4Dinners Carline Bengtsson will visit your home to prepare a sumptuous 5-course meal for up to 8 people in an unforgettable culinary experience. Named one of Minnesota Monthly’s private chefs, Carline “excels at turning ingredients into works of art, both pleasing to the eye and equally tasteful to the palate.” To top it off, guests will be serenaded with a wonderful musical performance by students from GTCYS’ Symphony. You host and provide the wine, and Carline will do the rest! Date to be agreed upon by the winning bidder and Carline Bengtsson.

*Dine4Dinners combats hunger in partnership with organizations that provide meals for those in need of daily nourishment through dependable, reliable and sustainable sources. For each dining experience, a quarter of the profits are given to those who need nourishment. To date, 108,037 meals have been donated. 

Perfect for a family vacation, friends reunion, or quiet getaway, this well-appointed 3-level Poplar Ridge townhome sleeps up to 12 and is in the heart of the beautiful Lutsen Mountains on Minnesota’s North Shore. This ski-in/ski-out unit offers four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a full kitchen, multiple fireplaces, and an open layout for ample space to spread out and cozy up. Resort amenities include indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub, children’s play areas, and a fitness center, plus easy access to hiking, biking, and snowmobiling trails. This package is available for up to a week-long stay in April through May or November through December, subject to availability. The following dates are not available: May 18-31, November 23-27, and December 26-31.

Due to popular demand, everyone’s favorite auction item is back! This is your chance to spend an evening with Executive Director Megen Balda and Artistic Director Mark Russell Smith. They will team up for a fun evening of entertainment and cuisine in your own home. Enjoy an exclusive 30-minute private cello/piano recital as well as the dynamic duo’s exceptional culinary skills for you and your guests. 

You host and provide the wine, and Maestro Smith will create a gourmet menu, provide the food, and cook for up to eight dinner guests. Menu and date to be agreed upon by the winning bidder, Maestro Smith, and Ms. Balda. If the winning bidder doesn’t have a piano, the dinner can be held at the Smith or Balda residence. Eat, drink, and be merry!

Golden Ticket Raffle (available in advance and during the cocktail reception in the lobby)
This is your chance to win one of GTCYS’ amazing Live Auction items of your choice for just $150! Only 100 tickets will be sold, so ticket holders have the chance to win big and support GTCYS scholarships. The more tickets you buy, the greater your chances of winning! Mystery Gift Bags (available in the lobby during the cocktail reception)
Everyone is a winner when you purchase a mystery gift bag! Each bag will have a fun prize (gift cards, experiences, etc.) with a few bonus surprises in the mix. When you take your pick of mystery bags for $75 each, you’ll get a fun prize and support a great cause!

Fund-A-Need Auction (during the program)
Every guest can give the gift of music! All gifts – small or large – will directly supporting GTCYS’ 50th Anniversary “Play It Forward” campaign which will help expand need-based scholarships, support EDI initiatives, and artistic collaborations to benefit every student now and in the years to come.

  • Proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test will not be required to attend Orchestrating Opportunities at Orchestra Hall.
  • Masks are mandatory during the program in the auditorium, but are optional in the lobby during the reception.
