Violins of Hope Application
GTCYS is honored to be a regional partner in the Violins of Hope global initiative, presented in the Twin Cities this spring by the Minnesota Jewish Community Center.
In Philharmonic’s Spring Festival performance, student musicians have the opportunity to perform on restored violins owned by Jewish musicians before and during the Holocaust. 10 violins, one viola, and one cello are available for students. They will be distributed at Philharmonic’s rehearsal on Tuesday, May 5, and students will perform them in the Spring Festival at Orchestra Hall on May 10.
If you are interested in performing on one of these special instruments, apply below by Tuesday, April 14. Before applying, please read some of the materials on this website and watch this video to gain a deeper understanding of these instruments and the Violins of Hope project. Parent/guardian permission is required to apply for participation in this project
