We discussed and practiced ways that we can engage our orchestra peers in quick get-to-know-you conversations during announcements.

Hi everyone! We are members of Student Leadership Team. [Everyone introduces themselves]
Today we are going to give you a chance to get to know your stand partner a little better! If you don’t have a stand partner, turn to the person next to you and make sure everyone is included!
First up, a mini-debate. We’ll clap three times when time is up for your debate. Ready? Pineapple belongs on pizza or pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza? [pause and allow the group to chat for 30 seconds and clap three times to bring everyone back]
Next, a get-to-know you question: What is your favorite Halloween candy? [pause and allow the group to chat for 30 seconds and clap three times to bring everyone back]
Finally, one more question: What is your least favorite Halloween candy? [pause and allow the group to chat for 30 seconds and clap three times to bring everyone back]
