Hi Student Leadership Team!
It was wonderful seeing you all last evening. If you weren’t able to attend the meeting, please take a look at last night’s agenda. Please see the details below for action items and next week’s announcements during rehearsals. Our next meeting is Wednesday, January 28 over Zoom.

Action items:

  • Make the announcement below in your rehearsal next week
  • Indicate your availability and interest for helping out with the Orchestrating Opportunities Fundraising Event by Monday, January 12
  • Sign up to play in Jupiter
  • Continue to set out the suggestion box. Check and record any feedback.
  • I’ll send a retreat activity menu of choices early next week. Connect with your teammates and lead two of the activities.

Announcement for Week of January 12

  • Hi everyone! We have a few announcements to share with you this evening!
  • School Music Grant and Orchestrating Opportunities
    • Would you like to nominate your school band or orchestra program for a $1,000 grant? Schools can purchase music, instruments, or other classroom supplies with this grant offered by GTCYS.
    • The winner will be announced at Orchestrating Opportunities. Check your email or member page for details.
    • Speaking of Orchestrating Opportunities, don’t forget to sign up to play Jupiter!
  • Ambassadors
    • Are you interested in sharing your love of GTCYS? Become an Ambassador!
    • As an Ambassador you will represent GTCYS at your school by giving a short, 5-10 minute presentation in your band or orchestra class.
    • It’s a great opportunity to build confidence and communication skills while helping other students learn about GTCYS concerts, auditions, and summer programs!
    • See your weekly email for more information and to sign up!
  • Now we have two Get to Know You questions:
    • Turn to your partner or someone nearby and discuss:
    • What did you do for New Year celebrations? (pause, give your peers 1 minute to talk, then clap three times to get their attention)
    • Now turn to someone else and discuss:
    • What are you looking forward to this year? (pause, give your peers 1 minute to talk, then clap three times to get their attention)
  • That’s all for now! Have a great rehearsal!
