SLT Meeting Follow-up and Action Items for Jan. 28

Dear Student Leadership Team,

Thank you for a great meeting this week! If you were unable to attend, please view the agenda.

Last night, Quincy Erickson, GTCYS alum, visited our meeting and shared his professional journey. Abby took great notes and you can view them here.

Action items:

  • Important: Next week, you will pack up two minutes early at the end of rehearsal and handout the Orchestrating Opportunities flyers at the doors while people leave.
  • Make the announcement below in your rehearsal next week.
  • Sign up for these opportunities:
  • Continue to set out the suggestion box. Check and record any feedback.

Announcement for week of February 2

  • Hi everyone! We have some announcements for you tonight!
  • Orchestrating Opportunities
    • Orchestrating Opportunities is on Sunday, February 22 at Orchestra Hall.
    • As a part of this event, GTCYS members from all 11 orchestras will perform Jupiter together.
    • We’d love to have you participate and we’ll have handouts for you at the end of rehearsal tonight. We’ll be at the doors waiting for you!
  • We’re excited to share some Get to Know You questions tonight! Tonight’s theme is Valentine’s Day! Please turn to your partner or someone close to you and we’ll clap three times to let you know when time is up.
    • First up: What is your favorite brand or type of candy? (give students about 1 minute to talk and then clap three times to get everyone’s attention)
    • What’s your favorite species or color of flower? (give students about 1 minute to talk and then clap three times to get everyone’s attention)
  • There are two more things we want to mention tonight:
    • Summer Camp is July 20 – 24, and registration is open!
    • Auditions for next season will be due on May 19 and materials will be online soon!
  • Thanks for your participation tonight and have a great rest of rehearsal!

Our next meeting is Wednesday, February 11. I’ll send out the Zoom link and details as we get closer.

Sincerely,

Dan
