Sinfonia West December Concert Details

Hello Sinfonia West Families,

We look forward to your concert at Friendship Village on Monday, December 8 at 7:00pm.

We hope you’re excited to perform for the community at Friendship Village—thank you for playing your part in GTCYS’ mission, sharing the joy of music with audiences who might not otherwise have access. 

This concert is an important part of your musical and personal development in GTCYS—it’s a chance to see the impact of your music on your audience. Please review the following information carefully.

CONCERT INFORMATION

Monday, December 8, 2025 at 7:00pm
Friendship Village of Bloomington, 8100 Highwood Dr, Bloomington, MN 55438  
This performance is a mandatory event for members of GTCYS Sinfonia West.
Complete an absence form in advance if you’re not able to attend.

Important: This concert is a gift from GTCYS to the residents of Friendship Village. Concert seating will be prioritized for residents. A limited audience of GTCYS parents is allowed at the concert, but please do not invite additional guests (friends, grandparents, etc.) to this concert.  Additionally, please allow residents to find their seats first and be prepared to stand if necessary as there will be limited seating for parents.

CONCERT SCHEDULE

• 6:00pm: Students arrive
• 6:15pm: Mandatory dress rehearsal
• 6:40pm: Audience enters (families should vacate seats until Friendship Village residents are seated)
• 7:00pm: Concert begins
• 7:30pm (approx.): Concert ends (once Friendship village residents have found their seats, Sinfonia West families may fill in around them or stand in the back)

ATTIRE
All students wear family concert attire: Single-color long-sleeved shirt (avoid white or black if possible), black pants and shoes. See the handbook for more details.
Do not wear any aerosol-based perfumes or colognes.
WHAT TO BRING

• Every student MUST bring a music stand
• Instrument and all accessories: remember your bow, extra strings, rosin, rock stops. Percussion students must bring a snare drum, snare drum stand, bell set, and mallets.
• Music folder: Check to make sure all your music is in your folder! You will NOT turn in your folder at the end of the concert.
• Please leave valuables and homework at home.

Please consider dropping off your student at the circle drive for the dress rehearsal, then departing to find parking in a nearby lot. Drop-offs should form a line running counterclockwise through the circle drive. There is very limited parking at the Friendship Village main entrance.

• All GTCYS students are invited to the Symphony Series Concert with Philharmonic on Monday, December 15 at 7:00pm. GTCYS students can attend for free with the code gtcysmusicstudent.
