Hello GTCYS Woodwind players!

Registration for GTCYS’ Annual Woodwind Day is open now! We’re excited about everything you’ll learn from the amazing Woodwind Day teachers and from each other at this special event on Saturday, November 1.

GTCYS expects all our woodwind players to attend Woodwind Day to make the most of this special enrichment opportunity!

TEACHERS

We’re delighted to announce the terrific line-up of Woodwind Day teachers! Check out their bios here:

  • Roma Duncan, flute and piccolo, Minnesota Orchestra
  • Christine Kim, principal oboe of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra
  • Sangyoon Kim, principal clarinet of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra
  • Andrew Brady, principal bassoon of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra

OVERVIEW

Woodwind Day will:

  • Build community among GTCYS’ woodwind players at all levels.
  • Develop techniques like blending, projecting, and developing an orchestral woodwind sound.
  • Help develop effective, healthy practice habits.
  • Provide specialized instruction to help you prepare your orchestra parts.

Schedule:

  • 9:00am–11:50pm: Instrument-specific coaching, masterclass, and social activities
  • 11:50am–12:40pm: Lunch (all participants will bring their own meals)
  • 12:45pm: Woodwind Day Teachers’ Recital*
  • 1:30pm: Event concludes

* Parents/guardians are welcome to attend the recital!

Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis
Free underground parking is available on site.
