3 Reasons to Register for Harmony Summer Camp!

Dear Harmony Families,

The 2025-26 Harmony School year is over in just five short weeks, but the fun continues over the summer! Summer programming is part of the Harmony year, and I would love to see all Harmony students at our summer programs!

Summer 25 1

Three reasons to attend Harmony summer activities:

  1. See friends and make new ones: Harmony summer camp is a great way to connect with friends in Harmony. You’ll also get to know students from the other Harmony program, since both Riverview and LNFI students learn together over the summer!

  2. Keep the learning going: students who attend summer programming build on the musical skills they learned during the school year. Putting an instrument down for the whole summer makes it harder to get back into playing when the Harmony year starts again in October.
    Summer 25 4
  3. Extra-fun activities: We’ll spend plenty of time playing our instruments at summer camp, but we’ll also have time for different activities! Last summer’s activities included sidewalk chalk, bucket-drumming, ice-breaker games, and temporary GTCYS tattoos.

Bonus reason: get reunited with your Harmony instrument! We collect all Harmony instruments at the end of the Harmony year so we can check on our inventory and complete any needed repairs. Students who would like to play their instrument at home over the summer should attend a Harmony camp or come to a Tuesday night Harmony Jam to be reunited with their violin or cello for the summer!

As a reminder, there is no additional fee for summer programming – summer programs are part of the Harmony year, and we hope all students will participate!

Here’s what we have planned this summer (all activities are at Riverview Spanish / English Dual Immersion School):

  1. June Summer Camp: Monday, June 15 – Wednesday, June 17, from 9:00am – 12:00pm.
  2. Harmony Jam Nights: Tuesdays June 30 and July 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 6:00 – 7:00pm. No registration needed! This is a drop-in, one hour session for all Harmony students to play music together.
  3. August Summer Camp: Monday, August 10 – Wednesday, August 12, from 9:00am – 3:00pm.

GTCYS Orchestra Camp: Harmony students who are ready to play in Philharmonia, or who already play in a GTCYS orchestra, can also attend GTCYS’s summer camp, July 20-24 at the University of Minnesota’s School of Music! If your student might be interested in GTCYS summer camp, please send me an email to make sure they are ready for orchestra. There is a fee to participate in GTCYS summer camp, and tuition assistance is available based on financial need.

As always, please reach out to me over email, text, or phone call with any questions!

Thanks,
Emily
