Hello Philharmonia West Families
We look forward to your concert at Minnesota Veterans Home on MONDAY, DECEMBER 8 at 7:00pm.
We hope you’re excited to perform for the community at the Minnesota Veterans Home—thank you for playing your part in GTCYS’ mission, sharing the joy of music with audiences who might not otherwise have access.
This concert is an important part of your musical and personal development in GTCYS—it’s a chance to see the impact of your music on your audience. Please review the following information carefully.
CONCERT INFORMATION
MONDAY, DECEMBER 8, at 7:00pm

The concert is in Building 19, Community Room.
This performance is a mandatory event for members of GTCYS Philharmonia West.
Complete an absence form in advance if you’re not able to attend.
Important: This concert is a gift from GTCYS to the residents of the Minnesota Veterans Home.
The community outreach concert is a special event for the veteran residents of the Minnesota Veterans Home, and all concert seating will be prioritized for residents first. A limited audience of GTCYS parents is allowed at the concert, but please do not invite additional guests (friends, grandparents, etc.) to this concert. Additionally, please allow residents to find their seats first and be prepared to stand if necessary as there will be limited seating for parents.
CONCERT SCHEDULE
MONDAY, DECEMBER 8
- 6:00pm: Students arrive
- 6:15pm: Mandatory dress rehearsal
- 6:40pm: Audience begins seating (families should vacate seats until MN Veteran Home residents are seated)
- 7:00pm: Concert begins (once Veteran Home residents have all found their seats, Philharmonia West families may fill in around them or stand in the back)
- 7:30pm (approx.): Concert concludes
ATTIRE
All students wear formal concert attire, with the optional addition of holiday accessories. See the handbook for more details.
Do not wear any aerosol-based perfumes or colognes.
WHAT TO BRING
- Every student MUST bring a music stand
- Instrument and all accessories: remember your bow, extra strings, rosin, rock stops.
- Music folder: Check to make sure all your music is in your folder! You will NOT turn in your folder at the end of the concert.
- Please leave valuables and homework at home.
