Letter from Tamara (3/12)
Hello Concertino East,
I appreciate everyone demonstrating resilience during our rehearsal. Those of us rehearsing in person dealt with the sauna-like heat in the rehearsal room, while those online dealt with poor audio quality during the first part of the rehearsal. We were able to get good work done despite these challenges, and I look forward to sharing this progress at our April School Tour performances.
Please focus your GTCYS 10 practice time on Pirate’s Legend and Freshwater Pirates. Make sure you are getting more comfortable with the 16th notes, and work towards being able to play these pieces at performance tempo. This is also a good time to get started on preparing your May GTCYS audition. I recommend starting with scales and selecting a solo, then working on the excerpt, always paying close attention to rhythm and intonation. If you need support in preparing your audition, you can check in with me before rehearsal.
Have a great week,
Tamara Gonzalez (she/her)
