Letter from Ms. Mary (5/5)
Woohoo!
Spring Festival is this weekend! At our rehearsal this week, we went through the details of our pieces, as well as the stage directions. We also had the bonus of our sweet surprise, listening to our awesome rehearsal assistant perform the opening of the Sibelius Violin Concerto.
I am so excited to hear our pieces at Orchestra Hall. We have learned our notes, rhythms, dynamics (most of the time), and articulations. We need to use our watching and listening skills to the maximum at the concert. Eyes and ears, eyes and ears!
An email was sent out with all of the specifics for the concert. Please check your email to make sure you have all of the information for this weekend.
Just a few reminders:
- Concert dress is all black
- Bring your folders, instrument and any accessories you might need
- You do not need to bring your stand
- Call-time is 1:20
- Our repertoire is March Triumphant, Where the River Shannon Flows, and Jubilee Fanfare
Continue to play Jupiter before Sunday. We will be playing this with all of the other students performing that day. The sound will be amazing. Remember the flats!
We will have our end-of-the-year party next Tuesday, May 12. We will turn in music, have some food, and also a few games. We will meet from 6:30-7:30pm.
It’s not too late to register for summer camp. Join the fun! Continue to learn new pieces and meet new friends. Summer camp is July 20-24. Summer camp rocks!
Question of the week: What time do you need to arrive at Orchestra Hall on Sunday? Send those answers to mary@gtcys.org.
Can’t wait for our concert! See you on Sunday.
Work hard, play hard.
Mary Sorlie
