Letter from Ms. Mary (3/9)
Hey Philharmonia West,
Fun rehearsal this week! Lots of visitors, snack night and Storytime! A special thank you to those of you who brought friends and family members on Monday night. We spent a good deal of time on Die Meistersingers and An African-American Air. Next week, we will continue to work on these pieces, as well as spend some time on Dorian Variations.
Before our net rehearsal, please take some time to practice the following passages. They are not long. You should be able to play each of these at least four times before next week.
- Die Meistersingers: beginning to letter A, and letter A to letter B.
- An African-American Air: measures 33 to the end.
Question of the week: What are the names of the two main characters in Die Meistersingers? Email those answers to mary@gtcys.org.
A reminder that every student needs to audition every year to participate in GTYCS. Audition videos are due on May 19. At our next rehearsal, we will talk about scales, one of the required components on the audition.
I hope that you have a great week. I am looking forward to our next rehearsal.
Work hard, play hard.
