Letter from Ms. Mary (3/23)
Hey Philharmonia West,
Thank you for your hard work at our rehearsal this week. We really dug into the nitty gritty of the details. We spent some time after many of our pieces evaluating our effort and our positions. When you are practicing at home this week, remember that posture, positions, and good playing technique really make a difference.
Next week, we will continue to work on Jupiter, as well as spend some time on things that can help with audition preparation. We will also spend time on March of the Meistersingers.
Before our rehearsal, please spend time on the following two passages:
- Jupiter: the first 12 measures. We reviewed the first 8 measures this week. You only need to add 4 more!
- March of the Meistersingers: the beginning to letter A. Please make sure to count your rhythms! Each part has different rhythms.
We have 6 more rehearsals this semester. Let’s make each of these rehearsals the best we can, by having excellent focus, attention to details and great positions.
Question of the week: What is your favorite tree or flower and why?
And just for fun.. Here is a video of Jupiter performed by GTCYS students.
Have a great week. Work hard, play hard.
