Letter from Ms. Mary (3/2)

Bravo Philharmonia West!

What a lovely concert this past Sunday.  Thank you for your effort, hard work, and willingness to learn new things.  We have made such great progress.  Thank you also for being good audience members while the percussion ensemble and Philharmonic played. I can’t wait to see and hear what will happen in our rehearsals for the next few weeks.

We will now focus on our Spring Festival repertoire, which includes Jupiter.  This week, we spent time on some very specific passages in March of the Meistersingers and An African American Air.  The listening links for these pieces are here:

African American Air

March of the Meistersingers

Before our rehearsal next week, please play through these very specific passages:

March of the Meistersingers; beginning to letter B and letter B-D.

African American Air; measures 1-20

Question for the week: What key is March of the Meistersingers in? Think about what scale has one sharp.  Email your answers to mary@gtcys.org.

A reminder from our Student Leadership Team that they would love to receive comments and more bad musical jokes! You can leave your comments and jokes in the suggestion box.

Next week is our Open Rehearsal.  This is your chance to bring friends to visit our rehearsal and even play along if they would like.  We will have Storytime next week, so they can fully discover what we do in Philharmonia!

Again, congratulations on a wonderful concert.  It was pure joy!

Have a great week. Work hard, play hard.
