Letter from Ms. Mary (2/23)

Hey Philharmonia West,

Our concert is this Sunday!

Our rehearsal this week was the dress rehearsal, and I am excited that we will be able to perform our pieces for an audience this weekend. You will receive and email later this week that has all of the information needed.   A few reminders:

The repertoire for the concert is:

  • Brandenburg Concerto
  • Vivaldi Concerto, mvmt 1
  • Tchaikovsky March
  • Turbulence

The biggest thing that we have to focus on are the key signatures and accidentals.  As you are reviewing your pieces this week, please take note (pardon the pun) of these details.  C sharp is not C natural!  Take time before Sunday to review these pieces.  Mark any key signatures and/or accidentals that might be helpful.  We have made great strides so far this semester.  Let’s remember to put all of the details in play (sorry for the second pun of the email).

Concert dress is different for this concert.  Please refer to the handbook if necessary.  The easiest way to remember what the concert is this:

  • Black on bottom (including shoes and socks)
  • SOLID long-sleeved color on top.

The concert is at Bloomington Jefferson High School.  Our call time is 3:30pm. We will be sharing this concert with the GTCYS Philharmonic Orchestra.  I can’t think of a better way to share a Sunday afternoon than with Philharmonia West and Philharmonic!

There are two questions of the week:

  1. What is time is our call-time?
  2. What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

Have a great week.  I can’t wait for our concert on Sunday!

Work hard, play hard.
