Letter from Ms. Mary (2/2)
Hey Philharmonia West,
Great rehearsal this week. We really made some progress using the rehearsal technique of “chunking” passages. This was especially effective in our rehearsing of the Brandenburg Concerto.
We have three more rehearsals before our next concert! Our concert repertoire is:
- Bach Brandenburg Concerto
- Vivaldi Concerto, 1st movement
- Tchaikovsky March from Symphony No. 6
- Owens Turbulence
Your assignment this week is to continue using the practice technique of chunking at home. I have listed six passages below. Please choose three of them and lay them a MINIMUM of 4 times. Even better if you do more!
- Brandenburg: measures 17-26
- Brandenburg: measures 27-37
- Vivaldi: measures 41-49
- Tchaikovsky: measures 39-47
- Turbulence: measures 18-25
- Turbulence: measures 48-56
Question of the week: What animal do you wish you could be or what animal are you most like? Send your answers to mary@gtcys.org.
Continue to share your music and kindness with those around you. Can’t wait for our rehearsal next week!
Work hard, play hard.
