Letter from Ms. Mary (2/17)
Hey Philharmonia East,
Nice job at our rehearsal this week, the start of our Baker’s Dozen rehearsals. Shout out to the cellos for a strong sound, especially in Jubilee Fanfare.
There is a lot going on in the coming weeks. Please make sure to check your weekly emails for updates and important information. The first extra event is at our next rehearsal on February 24. ComMUSICation will be joining us for the beginning portion of our rehearsal. I invite all of you to come early to rehearsal, at 5:45, where we will enjoy some pizza with the members of ComMUSICation. Come early and meet the performers who will be sharing our concert on February 28th. It will be awesome to hear Merengue and Draw the Circle Wide with the chorus.
In your practice this week, please focus on Draw the Circle Wide. Remember the road map! Remember the C sharps! Please play this piece in sections at home. The sections are measures 1-20, 21-35, and 36 to the end. The other pieces that we are playing for this concert are Merengue, Hop, Skip, and Jump, and Jubilee Fanfare. Next week will be our final rehearsal on these pieces. How long does it take you to play through all 4 pieces?
Other upcoming events:
February 28: concert at Two Rivers High School
March 3: open rehearsal during our regular rehearsal time
April 14: concert at Johanna Shores
Let’s keep working hard and making music together. Have a great week. Work hard, play hard.
