Letter from Ms. Mary (12/9)
Bravo, Philharmonia!
What a lovely concert last night. You played SO well! The residents were so appreciative. The Veterans Home is such a special place to play. What a great place to share our music. Thank you for taking the time after the concert to meet the residents. A special thank you to those of you who introduced our pieces. I can’t think of a more perfect way to end our 1st semester. Bravo, bravo, bravo!
Our next rehearsal is on January 5th. There are no rehearsals on December 15, 22 and 29. Please enjoy this time of year and make sure to include some extra time on your instrument!
Next semester includes a January retreat, a combined concert with Philharmonic (the orchestra our mentors are in) and Spring Festival. We will be playing pieces by Vivaldi, Bach, and Tchaikovsky, as well as learning the theme from Jupiter. Here is a video of what Jupiter will look like at Orchestra Hall this spring.
Additionally, we are still looking for outgoing, positive orchestra members to help welcome new students to GTCYS at our first rehearsal in January. If you are interested in this opportunity, we ask that you sign up by Monday, December 15.
Thanks for coming to rehearsal each week, willing to learn new things and hone skills on your instrument, meet new friends and make music together. You are simply the best!
With gratitude,
Mary Sorlie
