Letter from Ms. Mary (11/18)

Bravo, Philharmonia East!

What a fantastic job at Orchestra Hall this past weekend.  I hope that you had as much fun playing as the audience enjoyed listening to you.  What a lovely way to celebrate the work you have put into these past 10 weeks.  Thank you for your effort, courage, and willingness to work on new and hard things. And thank you for being the quietest orchestra to move from backstage to the balcony.  Wow! Here is the recording of Fall Festival III.  Enjoy!

Our next concert is coming up quickly, on December 9th.  The pieces that we will be performing are:

  • Accents
  • Chins and Pins
  • Turbulence
  • Sword Dance
  • Who Can Retell
  • Russian Dance (Trepak)

Next week, we will woodshed the following passages:

  • Accents, measures 37-54
  • Russian Dance, letter D to F
  • Who Can Retell, measures 25-41

Before next Tuesday, please take each of these sections and play them slowly, 5 times.  We need each of you to play your part this week and play these at home before our rehearsal.  Email me how long it took you to play these passages 5 times.  Send those answers to mary@gtcys.org.

We only have two more rehearsals, and then our concert.  Let’s make it a great last few weeks of the semester!

Can’t wait for our next rehearsal next Tuesday!

Work hard, play hard.
